Introduction
When it comes to finding something fun to do, it can feel impossible to find something affordable let alone free. I'm sure you've looked at plenty of lists or even Googled "what should I do today?" or "what to do when I'm bored?". So I've compiled a unique list of things to do that are entirely free of cost, and hopefully something unique that you haven't heard a million times like "go on a walk"or "read a book". So, let's dive in!
Go to a Local Animal Shelter
Most animal shelters like the Humane Society or local rescues offer free entry in an attempt to get more community engagement and encourage adoptions of animals. Take the whole family if you want and get some good cuddles in with the kittens and puppies!

Thrift Store Challenge
I'm sure this is something you've seen online before. But here's the breakdown: you and a friend go to a thrift store. One person stands at the end of the clothing rack with their eyes closed, facing the other person standing at the opposite end of the clothing rack. The person with their eyes closed starts walking while dragging their hand across the rack until the other person says "STOP!" You each take turns until you both build a surprise outfit, then you try them on! The goal is to make each other laugh, however you can make a competition out of it like who's outfit was better. You can even do this by yourself. Just close your eyes and stop when it feels right! Totally free and totally fun!

Knock on a Door and Take a Dog for a Walk
Are you a dog lover? Do you have any neighbors with dogs? If you've had your eyes on meeting a neighborhood dog, then simply go and ask to take if for a walk! Most owners would jump at the opportunity for a free dog walk! On the chance that they say no, then at least you'll have introduced yourself and offered something kind. Which is more than most people can say. And if they say yes, then you've just opened the door for a great opportunity! Maybe it could become a regular thing, and now you have a new furry friend!

At Home Theater
Okay maybe this one isn't that unique, but it's free and fun! Even if you don't have a streaming service like Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu, etc, then you can still watch movies for free on other platforms like YouTube, Tubi, or Pluto TV. Watch a classic, your favorite, or one you've been meaning to watch. Invite friends over, have someone bring the popcorn, and build a pillow fort to make it even cozier. Seriously, even if you don't have a TV or a Laptop or even a Phone you can still make it work! Tip: your local library likely rents out laptops which is also free of charge to you!

GeoCaching
This treasure-hunting filled activity is another free option for you! The primary app for this is called GeoCaching and here's how it works. When you open the app you'll see a map full of different markers. Click on one to read its details. The app will direct you within 30 feet of the geocache, then it's up to you from there to find where its hiding. When you find it, it will be a small object hidden very well with a paper log inside for you/your group to sign! This is a rewarding, fun, and free activity that you can turn into a whole day activity. Everyone can load up into one car, hop on your bikes, or even just walk from location to location! Check out their website or app for more details on how it works.

Presentation Challenge
I'm sure this is another idea you've heard of online, but here's how to mix it up! If you don't have a place or opportunity to make a presentation at home or no place to have everyone gather to present them, then your local library is your answer! Have everyone meet at your local library then allow 10 minutes to create your funniest/best presentation to show the group. Your local library should have plenty of computers to be used for free even without a library card. When it's time to present, have everyone gather in a free library study room with a screen! Most libraries also offer this with no charge as long as you have a library card. Make sure to reserve one ahead of time. Have each person present their presentation and everyone can cast their votes to see who won! And just like that you've had a fun, free day and you supported your local library in the process. It's a win-win!

Free Tours
This one doesn't sound so fun at first glance, but it is what you make of it. Local museums, walking tours, capitol buildings, and other historical locations offer free tours all the time. You'd be surprised by how fun these are if you simply have the right attitude. Go to learn something new, bring friends and make a bet to sneeze every time the tour guide says "when," or simply go just because it's something free to do. Tip: always be respectful of the tour guide, but remember to have fun.

Open Houses
Are you not looking to buy a house any time soon? Me either, but who says you can't just go and look? Dress up nice, play the part, and find open houses coming up to attend. You can take your partner, a friend, or just go by yourself and have a day with it. Creating a backstory for yourself/selves will really add some variety to the mix. Maybe you "just got engaged" and you're looking for your first home together. Maybe you're "looking for your client." Maybe you're "looking for your summer home", ooo how fancy! Just have fun! Some open houses offer snacks/drinks as an added bonus. This is your opportunity to be rich for the day while spending not a single penny.

Sell Old Items
It's time to start cleaning out old items! Starting with your clothes is an easy option. But I'm sure there's plenty of things that you don't use anymore/don't want anymore that have some kind of value. It costs nothing to list your items online for sale. Facebook Marketplace is very user friendly to get started!

Sign up Freebies
Spend the day signing up for new rewards programs and reap the benefits! Lot's of places now offer free food/items just for signing up for their rewards. Make a list and plan your day out to collect your items! Here's a list of places that offer freebies:
Krispy Kreme - free original glazed doughnut
Tropical Smoothie Cafe - free smoothie
Walgreens Photo - free 8x10 print
Taco Bell - choice of a free item
Red Robin - free appetizer
Chipotle - free Guac
Chick-fil-A - free chicken sandwich

The options are endless, these are just a few! You can also go to basically any restaurant and say it's your birthday for something free or at least a meal discount.
Conclusion
There's millions of things you can do in this world that are free and fun! Most things at first glance may not seem all that thrilling, but it's not always about the activity you do, rather the people you did it with and the pride that comes with not staying home all day. I hope this list helped you find what you were looking for, and make sure to keep your eyes open for new lists and posts coming up!

I can tell you are someone who truly gets the most out of life. Great ideas!
